Effect of Computer Programmed Instruction on Students Speed and Accuracy Achievement in Keyboarding

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of computer assisted
programmed instruction (CAP) on College of Education Undergraduates’ Academic
performance in keyboarding. The study adopted a quasi-experimental research
design. A total of sixty-six students participated in the study. Two research questions
were raised and analysed in the study. Data were collected through keyboarding pre
and posttests. The t-test statistics was the major instrument used for data analysis. The
findings revealed that a significant difference exist in the performance of students
exposed to computer assisted programmed instruction (CAPI) and those exposed to
conventional method. It is recommended amongst others that the use of computer
assisted programmed instruction (CAPI) should be incorporated into the teaching of
typewriting in Colleges of Education in Nigeria.
