Roles of Language Education in Achieving Inclusive and Quality Education in Nigeria

Abstract

This paper discussed the role of language education in achieving inclusive and
quality education in Nigeria. It tried to define the concepts of education, inclusive
education, quality education, and language education. An overview of inclusive
education which boarder on the emergence, aims, merits and demerits of inclusive
education were discussed. The paper also harped on the challenges facing
inclusive education and the role of language education in Nigeria. The
implications of achieving inclusive and quality education as they affect language
teachers, the students, curriculum planners, and the government of the country,
were also discussed. Finally, it was recommended that there is need for
professional training for language teachers and conclusion was made.
