NIGERIAN ENGLISH AND INSECURITY IN NIGERIA IN THE DIGITAL WORLD

Abstract

English as a global language has developed many varieties ranging from Standard through Non-standard, dialects to national and regional varieties, resulting in different classifications
such as “World English” or “New English”. This study discusses Nigerian English and insecurity in Nigeria in the digital age. The paper touches among other things Nigerian English. It also discusses and attempts to show how some Nigerian English expressions erroneously made can be corrected. The paper also discusses insecurity in Nigeria. The implication of insecurity and of deviation in Nigerian English has therefore been discussed this research paper recommends stiffer penalties for perpetrators of violence. It is hoped that the result of this research will provide a viable solution to the current security challenges in Nigeria
