The Role of Woodwork Trade in Alleviating Poverty

This paper highlights the concept of wood work trade among technical and vocational discipline that can be used to attain sustainable national economic development by alleviating poverty in the nation, challenges of wood work trade towards poverty alleviation. The paper concludes that the procurement of tools, machines and equipment must be supported by government and designed to support creation and more training in vocational and technical education in general and wood work trade in particular. On the basis of this, recommendations were made which call for government and its agencies in vocational and technical education to organize sensitization workshops and seminar aimed at enlightening people on the benefit of learning woodwork trade so as to alleviate poverty. Government should equally provide adequate workshop tools and facilities necessary for students to be fully trained for self-employment, wealth creation and poverty alleviation among others.
